About Us

Soka Samaritan Initiative is a community-based organization within the slums of Kibera that empowers the vulnerable in the community through charity work, mentorship, and hands-on training on skills that enable them to be self-reliant and contribute towards development within the community.

Our Story

SOKA stands for Sustainable Opportunity and Knowledge to All.

Soka Samaritan Initiative is a community-based organization within the slums of Kibera that empowers the vulnerable in the community through charity work, mentorship, and hands-on training on skills that enable them to be self-reliant and contribute towards development within the community. We started the organization in August 2022, training young single mothers on videography and photography and officially registered it in August 2023 as a Community Based Organization.

In the past young mothers have been seen as a burden to the community that is already struggling with social issues such as; poverty, unemployment, crime, and drug abuse, etc. Soka Samaritan Initiative’s main aim is to change the narrative with sustainable programs aimed at shifting our young mothers from a needy mentality to a creative and self-reliant one.

We are deeply committed to protecting and supporting the vulnerable and needy, ensuring their social, physical, and emotional well-being remains at the heart of our work.

We work hand in hand with communities to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to improve their lives and drive positive change from within.

We are driven by genuine passion and unwavering commitment, matching the community’s determination to create a better, more hopeful future.
