Child Feeding Program – Nourishing Lives, Protecting Futures

Child malnutrition is steadily rising within the slums of Kibera, driven by irregular feeding patterns among vulnerable families. With food prices soaring and unemployment increasing daily, many young mothers and caregivers are struggling to meet even the most basic needs—especially nutritious food for children who depend entirely on them for survival and growth.

Our research reveals a harsh reality: nearly 60% of children in the slums survive on an average of only two meals a day, meals that are often inconsistent and nutritionally inadequate. For growing children, this lack of proper nutrition threatens their physical development, weakens immunity, affects brain development, and limits their ability to learn, play, and thrive.

In response to this urgent need, our Child Feeding Program was established to provide two nutritious meals a day to vulnerable children and young mothers within the slums. Through the generosity of well-wishers and community partners, the program has already supported over 200 vulnerable families, ensuring access to balanced meals that are essential for healthy growth, development, and overall well-being.

Beyond addressing hunger, this program restores dignity and hope. When children are well-fed, they are healthier, more active, and better able to concentrate in school. When young mothers are supported, they experience reduced stress and are better equipped to care for their families and pursue opportunities that can improve their livelihoods.

This feeding program is more than a meal—it is a lifeline. It protects children from the long-term effects of malnutrition, supports struggling families during difficult times, and lays the foundation for a healthier, stronger future for the Kibera community.

By nourishing today’s children, we are investing in tomorrow’s leaders.
